Online Quran classes in Australia
Live one-to-one Quran lessons for Pakistani Australian families, at after-school and evening times in every Australian city.
Quran lessons for Pakistani Australian families
The Pakistani community in Australia has grown quickly, with families settled in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra, and many more in regional towns. Parents there want their children to read the Quran properly, but the options are often limited: a weekend class at a masjid some distance away, a large group of mixed ages, and little chance for the teacher to listen to each child closely. Sport, school activities and long commutes make it even harder. One-to-one online lessons bring a teacher into your home at a time that fits your week.
OQC.com.pk is based in Pakistan and teaches students worldwide. Every lesson is live and one-to-one, so your child has the teacher's full attention from start to finish. This page is for families in Australia; for other countries see Quran classes for overseas Pakistanis.
A time difference that works in your favour
Unlike families in Britain or North America, Australians are ahead of Pakistan, not behind. When school finishes in Sydney or Melbourne, it is still morning or around midday in Pakistan, which is a comfortable time for our teachers. That makes after-school lessons easy to arrange, and evening lessons just as simple, because we teach 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra: 5 hours ahead of Pakistan in winter, 6 hours ahead in daylight saving time.
- Brisbane: 5 hours ahead all year, because Queensland does not use daylight saving.
- Adelaide: 4 and a half hours ahead in winter, 5 and a half in summer.
- Perth: 3 hours ahead all year.
Remember that Australian daylight saving runs from early October to early April, the opposite of the northern hemisphere. You do not need to track any of this. Tell us the hour you want in your own city and we keep the lesson at that local time all year.
A typical lesson
Teacher and student both keep their video on and see each other at the side of the screen. The teacher screen-shares the page being studied, a Noorani Qaida lesson or a page of the Quran, and points to each word. Your child reads aloud from the shared page on a laptop, tablet or phone, and the teacher corrects pronunciation, joining and Tajweed right away. On the Monday to Friday plan lessons last 30 minutes, short enough to fit before sport or after dinner. See our how it works page for setup details.
Reading accurately, not only by ear
Children growing up in Australia speak English all day, and many learn short surahs by listening. That is a lovely start, but reading accurately from the page is a separate skill, and several Arabic sounds have no English equivalent. In a private lesson the teacher builds reading from the letters up and corrects every slip as it happens. Once reading is fluent, students can move on to Tajweed, to Hifz of selected surahs, or to Islamic Studies for salah and duas.
Courses
- Noorani Qaida: letters, sounds and joining, for complete beginners.
- Nazra Quran: fluent, accurate reading from the Mushaf.
- Tajweed: the rules of recitation, practised verse by verse.
- Hifz: memorising selected surahs or the whole Quran.
- Islamic Studies: salah, duas, kalimas and daily basics for children.
During the free trial the teacher checks your child's level and suggests the right starting point. See all options on the courses page.

Your days
Weekdays, weekends or a few days a week.

For parents too
Most families start with their children; read about online Quran classes for kids. Many parents then book lessons for themselves, early in the morning or once the children are asleep; see Quran classes for adults. Mothers can learn with a female Quran teacher, and our page on online Quran classes for ladies explains how women fit lessons into a busy day.
School holidays, trips and Ramadan
When the family travels to Pakistan in the December or July school holidays, lessons can continue from there at Pakistani time and return to your usual Australian time when you are home. During Ramadan, when routines shift, tell our team and we will help move the lesson to a better hour.
